In a short time, Sarpsborg Fire Department has implemented Bliksund's professional system GRID. The result is better overview, faster access to important information and more efficient collaboration for the 57 employees at the fire station.
At Sarpsborg Brann- og Feiervesen (Sarpsborg Fire and Rescue Service) in Norway, the digitisation of everyday life with GRID has played a crucial role in the daily emergency response. Since the beginning of 2025, the emergency service have been using GRID - and in record time, the system has become a central part of operations and everyday life.
"GRID has made it much easier for us to keep track of checklists, exercises, equipment and other important information. We use the system every day and it has really improved our overview significantly," says Kim Magnus Ruud, fire officer and responsible for GRID at Sarpsborg Fire Department.
From disarray to a unified solution
Before implementing GRID, the fire department faced logistical challenges with inadequate checklists, inaccessible exercise plans and a lack of overview of equipment. Important information was scattered between different platforms and many messages did not reach the crew at all.
"Before, we didn't have a good overview of internal information, which was scattered both digitally and analog. GRID solved it all in one user-friendly platform that was incredibly quick to set up and implement," says Kim Magnus Ruud.
Sarpsborg Fire Department first gained access to the system before Christmas 2024 and implemented it in January 2025.
A time-saving work tool
GRID is now used across the emergency response and prevention department every day, where, for example, daily checks of vehicles and equipment are done exclusively. And the digitisation of the workday has made a significant difference:
"GRID has freed up time because we now spend less time chasing information. Now everything is in one place - in our pocket - where we can quickly access checklists, exercises, shift schedules - in short, everything we need to have an efficient workday," says Kim Magnus Ruud.
A digital foundation for the emergency response of the future
For Sarpsborg Fire Department, the implementation of GRID is not only about continuously introducing new technology, but also about finding a system that is actually used - because it is intuitive and easily accessible to all employees. The ease of use, quick implementation and accessibility via mobile are reasons why GRID has become a necessary work tool for Kim Magnus Ruud and his colleagues:
"It makes a noticeable difference that we now have a tool that brings together all the information we used to have to look for in different places. The system is time-saving, quick to set up and very user-friendly - and it works without interference."
With GRID from Bliksund, Sarpsborg Fire Department has created a solid digital foundation that not only optimises everyday life at the fire station - but also strengthens emergency preparedness throughout Sarpsborg Municipality.

Sarpsborg Brann- og feiervesen is the municipal fire service in Sarpsborg Municipality in southeastern Norway. The fire service covers both emergency response and prevention and works around the clock with four shifts. In addition to firefighting and rescue tasks, they are also responsible for fireplaces and other fire protection.
