This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming two dedicated and talented summer interns from to Bliksund: Fabian Stoltenberg and Elisabella Hjelpdahl. Both Fabian and Elisabella joined the Summer Intern Program from BearingPoint.
Fabian is pursuing a master’s degree in Industrial Economics and Technology Management with a specialisation in computer science, while Elisabella is studying Engineering & ICT - both at NTNU.
Their project focused on making data from GRID more accessible and useful for our customers. Specifically, they worked on the Competence module, aiming to simplify how users retrieve and analyze data related to personnel, roles, and competencies. The goal was to enable insights regardless of the customer’s analytical expertise or available resources, without affecting operational performance.
Over the course of the summer, Fabian and Elisabella developed a complete data pipeline that transfers information from GRID into a dedicated analytical database. This data is then made available through an API, allowing customers to access both raw and processed data.
To demonstrate the practical value of this setup, they also created a Power BI report replicating key views from GRID, including the Main Report Role and Competence.
In addition to the technical deliverables, Fabian and Elisabella collaborated closely with our analytics team, participated in stakeholder meetings, and followed agile development practices.
They documented their work thoroughly to ensure a smooth handover and laid the foundation for future improvements, including performance optimisation and the integration of additional GRID modules.
For everyday users, the project means much more than just a technical improvement. By making structured data from GRID available through an API, customers gain direct access to the information they need for their own analyses and reports. This opens up completely new opportunities to work with data across personnel, competencies, and procedures in a way that is both flexible and tailored to their needs.
The result is better insight and a stronger foundation for making the right decisions – whether it’s about resource allocation, training, or improving emergency preparedness.
We are proud of what Fabian and Elisabella have accomplished. Their contributions have strengthened our analytics offering and brought us closer to our goal of providing emergency services with smarter, more intuitive tools for decision support. We wish them all the best.
